OUR HISTORY

The British Turkish Lawyers’ Association (BTLA) was launched in April 2005 at a conference in Istanbul which was supported by both the Law Society of England & Wales as well as the Union of Turkish Bar Associations. Since its inception, the BTLA has held annual seminars in Turkey and the United Kingdom, which each seminar relating to matters of interest to lawyers, judges and academics drawn from both jurisdictions.

OUR MISSION

By promoting good relations and understanding, the BTLA aims to develop and to strengthen legal, business and cultural ties between lawyers, jurists and judges in the United Kingdom and in the Republic of Turkey. The BTLA is therefore committed to organizing professional and social events, as well as joint seminars, and also to creating a professional network for the exchange of information and ideas among its members in relation to professional training and other legal matters.
